House of Heroes - call is now open!
House of Heroes is a multiple-phased project that aims to equip those in contact with young public with the necessary skills firstly to help young people build up their resistance and critical thinking skills, so as not to become attracted by extremist and populist ideas, oppressive and hate-driven narratives and secondly to become the advocate and campaigner for human rights using counter and alternative narratives.
Counter and alternative narratives combat hate speech by discrediting and deconstructing the narratives on which they are based while proposing narratives based on human rights and democratic values, such as openness, respect for difference, freedom and equality.
With this project we want to address the issue of the Civil Society falling short in sending the messages to those who are "over the fence" - who are not usually interested in the topics about human rights and democracy.
We will gather youth workers, human rights educators and activists from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Russia, Czechia, Finland, Italy, Moldova, North Macedonia, Norway, Spain, Ukraine, France and Belgium twice - first in Brussels, Belgium and secondly in Tbilisi, Georgia. In between these two phases participants will have to develop and implement counter narratives with young people at their organisations.
